Hi there!! I'm back again with another DIY Recipe and this time it's another DIY Toner for Troubled Skin!! This recipe is different because it's quite potent and if you haven't made any of the DIY Toner that I've post in this blog before then I suggest that you should make one of those first and then when your skin (and nose) have adjusted to the toner then you can make this one.
Here are my previous recipe:
- DIY Apple Cider Vinegar and Rose Water Toner for Acne Prone Skin- Apple Cider Vinegar and Green Tea Toner for Acne Prone Skin
- DIY Apple Cider Vinegar, Chamomile and Lemongrass Toner for Acne Prone Skin
Like my previous recipe the main ingredients is Apple Cider Vinegar (ACV) and if you're new to this ACV is great for skin (especially acne prone skin) because it contains natural alpha hydroxy acids that exfoliate and brighten the skin. It also restores the natural pH balance of the skin, because our skin is naturally at a pH of 5.5 or lower (slightly acidic). Soap is very alkaline and will disrupt the pH of the skin, but it has been shown that even normal tap water can change the pH of our skin! Using ACV in the toner adds more acid to the skin, to bring it closer to the ideal skin pH. But...... Since ACV is an acid, it can irritate very sensitive skin. If you find that ACV toner too strong, just add more water and less ACV. You can increase the amount of ACV over time as your skin adjusts (up to a maximum of 50% ACV).
So what makes it different with the previous ACV Toner? This ACV will be infused with herbs that is know beneficial for skin and fight acne!! The herbs that I'm using in this recipe are:
Rosemary
Rosemary is rich in vital nutrients, including iron, calcium, vitamin B6, cineole, verbenon, antioxidants and also has aromatic properties that may sooth and rejuvenate. It can help delays the aging process, very invigorating on skin and can effectively tone and tighten loose, sagging skin.
Chamomile
Chamomile is an anti-inflammatory, antimicrobial, antispasmodic, sedative, aromatic and it’s very soothing which makes it ideal for use on the skin; it’s mild and gentle enough to use routinely to prevent infection and inflammation.
Cloves
Cloves are often recommended for skin care, especially to those with acne. antimicrobial, kills acne bacteria, potent antioxidant
Green Tea
Green tea especially helpful in soothing irritated skin or sunburns. It’s rich in anti-oxidants and is known to slow down the aging process! It is also a powerful anti-inflammatory and can improve severe skin inflammation issues such as: rosacea and eczema.
Thyme
Thyme is said to be more effective than prescription creams (containing benzoyl peroxide) at treating blemishes caused by an acne bacterium.

DIY Anti Acne Toner:
Apple Cider Vinegar
Dried Rosemary
1 Chamomile Tea Bag
Dried Cloves
1 Green Tea Bag
Dried Thyme
Note: You can buy all the ingredients in this recipe at local supermarket.
How to make:
- Clean a glass bottle.
- Fill about 1/2 or 1/3 bottle with ACV.
- Open one chamomile tea bag and one green tea bag and fill the bottle.
- Add dried rosemary, cloves and thyme into the bottle. (I don't have and exact recipe though since I just randomly fill the bottle with the ACV and herbs #LOL)
- Keep in a cool dark place and let it infuse for a week or two. Let me remind you though the smell is quite potent.
- Strain the mixture with a clean cloth so there's only gonna be the infused ACV.
- Store the infused ACV in a cool dark place or inside the fridge and dilute it first with water to use it a toner. Why? Because if you use it an undiluted one it will BURN!!
Optional: You can add a few drop of Tea Tree and Lavender Essential Oil into the diluted toner if you like.
