DIY: Brush Tree

It's been a while since my last DIY Project right? So today's post is about DIY Brush Tree. What's a Brush Tree you say? Well Brush Tree is a thingamajig that you use to help you dry your makeup brushes vertically and off the counter. By drying you makeup brushes that way, the bristles are protected and also protect it from contamination. Here's what the Brush Tree looks like.

Why make one you say? Well for starter it is expensive!! One Brush Tree will cost you USD 34.95 or about IDR 450,000 and I just can't spend that much money (although it does looks kinda cute). Pluss.. DIY Project is fun...!! 

The materials are:

Styrofoam Board

Foam Board

Glue Gun

Glue

Scissord

Boxcutter / Exacto Knife

Ballpoint

Coins or any circle objects in different sizes

Step One:

Get any styrofoam board with your preferred color and cut it in appropriate size. I cut mine in 30 x 20 cm. You can buy it at a craft store or book store.

Step Two:
This is what the foam board looks like and it can also be bought at a craft store or book store. The size must match with the styrofoam board.

 Step Three:
 Draw some circles with different sizes on the styrofoam board and cut it using the boxcutter or exacto knife. This part is really time consuming.

This is what the styrofoam board looks like once the circles have been cut. Curious about the rectangle cut on each side? We'll get there soon.

Step Four:
Using the cutted styrofoam board as a guide, draw circles onto the foam board and cut the middle circle like the picture above. It's gonna be where the brushes slide.

Step Five:

Remember those rectangular cut on each side of the styrofoam board? That's where the other styrofoam board slide in order for the Brush Tree to stand.

 Step Six:
 Glue the foam board onto the styrofoam board.

It's a fun project and it only cost me under IDR 50,000 or under USD 4!!! Plus the store bought Brush Tee can only hangs 14 brushes while my DIY can hangs 45 brushes!!
