I thought I'm gonna liven up my blog more with another different posting and from now I'm gonna post more about any movie, anime, drama or TV series that I've watched and share my thoughts about it. It's still morning but my first drama rambling is a Japanese Drama called Akuryo Byoto and yess from the title you can guess that it's a horror one... I rarely seen a horror genre in a J-Drama series so I was somewhat curious about this one. The last horror drama series that I've watched before is a 2004 Prayer Beads and it was quite good too.
Title: Demon Ward (literal title)
Romaji: Akuryo Byoto
Genre: Horror
Episodes: 10
Episodes: 10
Plot:
The Kumagawa Hospital which is located in the outskirts of town. Ogami Runa joined as a nursing staff 2 weeks ago, working with the strict head nurse Kido Junko and trainee doctor Kumakawa Asahi. One night after the lights are switched off, her fellow colleague, Suzuki Ayako is terrified out of her wits when a woman dressed in a school uniform (sailor) with blood dripping all over her, appears before her.
A few days later, Runa's childhood friend, Sakai Manami who works at a movie production company, calls her out for a meet-up. Ever since she was a child Runa had the ability to sense the paranormal and when she was in junior high school, she saw the bloodied ghost of a classmate who died in an accident while commuting to school. Her classmates were spooked out by her and she was bullied by her other classmates, Manami is the only one who had befriended her.
After that event, nurses and patients constantly talk about seeing ghosts. Asahi asks his father, the hospital director, about the secret room on the top floor of the old hospital ward which he has been wondering about since he was a child but … … One night, Runa goes to the old hospital wing to fetch some supplies, and she hears a voice calling out her name "Runa....". Entranced, Runa follows the sound and goes up to the top floor. She hears the voice coming from inside a wall at the end of the hallway on the top floor. When she is at a loss in front of the wall, a door suddenly appears in front of her … … Runa gets caught up in terrifying events, and lands in hot water when she is suspected of being the cause of the misfortune that has befallen the hospital.
Cast:
Kaho as Ogami Runa
I mostly remember her from 4 Shimai Tantei Dan and Otomen (one of my favorite Rom-Com Drama!!) and also remembers her as a cheerful and bumbling character. In this drama she plays as a nurse who has a paranormal ability and just moved to the eerie Kumagawa Hospital, her character is a bit gloomy and somewhat reminds me of Sadako .
Owada Kensuke as Kumagawa Asahi
I only seen him once in a drama called Tenshi wa Mop wo Motte so I didn't have a lot of impression on this guy. In this drama he plays as a trainee doctor at Kumagawa Hospital who is always caring and gentle to Ogami Runa who keeps making blunders after her move to Kumagawa Hospital and slowly attracted to her .
Suzuki Kazuma as Madarame Kazuya
I only remember him as "the guy with white hair" on Liar Game #LOL and sorta remembers him in Kagi no Kakatta Heya but I think there are a lot more since he's quite a senior actor. His face is quite antagonistic doncha think?? He play a lot of bad guys if I'm not mistaken... In Akuryo Byoto he plays as the director of a a small programme production company who aims to create a feature on Kumagawa Hospital’s apparitions.
Takada Riho as Sakai Manami
I think she was a model or something cos I never seen her before. In this drama she play as Ogami Runa’s good friend since junior high school days who works as Madarame Kazuya’s assistant director. She receives Madarame’s instructions, and asks Runa to let them interview the hospital.
Kawakami Julia as Suzuki Ayaka
I also didn't know her, I think she's an Idol Singer or something. She also plays as the new nurse at Kumagawa Hospital and become somewhat of an idol to the patients because of her cheerful personality and cute looks.
Moriwaki Eriko as Kido Junko
From her looks I think she's quite a senior but I don't really remember her on any drama. In Akuryo Byoto she plays as Kumagawa Hospital’s competent head nurse. She expresses her disapproval and warns the nurses who feel shaken because of the high frequency of first-hand account of ghosts in the hospital.
Haruta Junichi as Kumakawa Keita
His face is very familiar but I don't remember which drama or movie I've seen him in. He plays as Kumagawa Hospital’s director who seems to know the cause of the apparitions in the hospital but hides it.
Shimada Kyusaku as Ogami Tatsuo
I've seen this guy a lot in a drama and movie. But his last act that I remember is where he plays as a gentle father of Chiaki Kuriyama in ATARU. In this drama he also plays as Ogami Runa’s father who says that Runa's paranormal ability is only a mental illness. He's close to Runa and gently watches over her.

My Thoughts:
I'm interested in this drama because as I mentioned before, I rarely seen horror genre in a series before. I've seen it in Drama Special, TV Movie or Japanese Movie but I rarely seen it in a drama. I've always has a fascination with the horror genre and sometimes my friends think I'm weird because I've seem to like this particular genre a lot more than others... IDK I just like it... Whether it's a ghost, thriller, splatter, slasher or psychological I like em all... I particularly like the somewhat weird B-Type horror movie though like Grindhouse, The Fly and The Evil Dead Trilogy.
Not only because it's horror, I'm interested because Kaho was in it. She usually plays as the kawaii and genki type so it was interested in looking how dark and gloomy she is in this drama . Well.... That and any horror with a hospital in it is a definite cause for a good scare right?? As for the ghost that appear in this drama, they are mostly the J-Horror staple type such as long haired woman in white to dead bloody schoolgirl in sailor suit.
Most of the episode in this drama are told as a flashback which is quite interesting. I watch it with somewhat confusion at first and then.... Ahhhhh so that's what it was... All of the episode gets connected and ultimately comes in a full conclusion which is also quite rare in J-Horror. But...... after the half episode towards the end it gets somewhat weird because from the Yurei and Obake it sorta turns into a combination of Zombie Apocalypse and a Blair Witch Project . So I was like... what the......But even tough it gets somewhat weird toward the end I still find this drama enjoyable. A nice theme change because lately I don't find any enjoyable J-Drama. Not that it's not good.. But I wanna watch a nice drama where I can drools over the cast like Hana Kimi ~ Ikemen Paradise. Ahhh.... How I miss that kinda drama... I remember the time when I was fangirling over it .

For those of you who want a change of pace and decent scare you might light this drama and interesting enough though I only find the mood to watch this drama at night to which my friend give me another weird look. Why?? Because I currently living by myself #LOL
Some spoilers of the ghost....

I also really really like this drama soundtrack!!! The song is called Greed Greed Greed by Acid Black Cherry!! The lyrics is somewhat explicit but it's Rockin!! Acid Black Cherry or shortened as A.B.C is a Visual Kei Band and is the solo project of Japanese musician, Yasu, formed in 2007 after his previous band Janne Da Arc announced an indefinite hiatus. For this project, YASU has teamed up with SHUSE (ex-La’cryma Christi) on bass, guitarists YUKI (ex-/\ucifer), Akihide (BREAKERZ) and Chisato (PENICILLIN) and Jun-ji (ex-SIAM SHADE) on drums. SUGIZO (ex-LUNA SEA) and DAITA (ex-SIAM SHADE) have also participated in recording a few tracks for the project. I know K-Pop is in sty;e right now but somehow I don't find myself into it.. I still find myself falling in love with the good V-Kei and J-Rock Band... Oh... and not to mention this is what their latest single cover looks like!!!!
KYAAAA!!! Talk about nosebleed....
Here's the MV preview cos I can't find their MV on Youtube but you can see it at JPopAsia. GOD.... Yasu is soo hawt... #fangirlingmodeon #nosebleed
