Tutorial: Recycled T-Shirt Necklace and Bracelet

Good evening fellas....

I've been running errands since this morning and it took longer than I expected so this post is been abandon since morning. This time I'm gonna make a tutorial on recycled t-shirt necklace and bracelet. The tutorial is pretty easy, I think anyone can make this neat accessories. No sewing, no gluing, just scissors and your hand.

The reason behind this idea is when I wear my favorite t-shirt and go to bed, I notice the day after that the neckline seam is ruin.

Notice the protruding yarn??

Since I can't wear it anymore I'm thinking of recycling it into a washcloth at first, but when I google on how to recycle a t-shirt there are some neat idea in how to recycle your used t-shirt into skirt, bag, pouch, and necklace. I think necklace would be nice so turn this used t-shirt into a neclace instead. Here's what I did:

Cut the part where the arm end and continue to the other side, and the cut the bottom part into several pieces. It doesn't have to be exact just cut it any way you like.

I've cut mine into 17 pieces, I don't use any ruler or measurement just cut.. cut.. cut.. But if you want to use measurement the usual width is 2-3 cm.

Pull the pieces of cloth until it curled up, you don't have to use much power. Since my t-shirt have seam in the right and left part, pulling it too strong might rip the seam. So I just pull it until the fabric curls. I think the necklace would look nicer if the used t-shirt doesn't have any seam.

Since you don't use any ruler there will be some failed cut but it's okay. This failed cut can still be used later. If you failed just join the failed piece of cloth and tie it into a knot like the picture above.

After you done pulling those fabrics, join the fabric and arrange so that the t-shirt seam are align and use one or two fabric to cover the seams, if your t-shirt have 2 seams then save 2 fabric to covers it but if your t-shirt have 1 or no seam then save 1 fabric to cover the t-shirt seam.

To cover the seam first tie the end of one of your fabric into the necklace while leaving a long tails and then wrap it tightly until you cover the t-shirt seam and the long tails. After you are done just tuck the leftover fabric and tie it with the long tails that you leave before.

Here's what the necklace looks like when it's finish.

Since the top part is unused I feel it to be wasteful to just throw it out so I got the idea to cut them again and make a matching bracelet out of the leftover t-shirt. I cut the arms and neck area and cut the square fabric below the neck area into several pieces.

The next steps are like the necklace, except since the fabric are in piece and not in a loop like the necklace fabric, I have to tie both fabric end into a knot like the picture above. Don't forget to pull the fabric until it curls like the necklace. After you done just gather the fabric with the knot ends scatter anywhere you like and wrap it around like the necklace.

Here's what the bracelet looks like when it's done.

Since it's a pretty long bracelet I have to wrap it once around my wrist.
